LORAIN, Ohio (AP) — Country music icon Willie Nelson has come to Ohio to sing out in support of an old friend, US Rep Dennis Kucinich.
Nelson performed a sold-out benefit for the congressman on Sunday in Lorain, about 25 miles west of Cleveland. The star previously campaigned for Kucinich during his long-shot bids for president.
Redistricting has thrown Kucinich into a congressional primary battle with another veteran Democrat, Marcy Kaptur.
Her campaign sniffed last week that while Kucinich brings singers to northern Ohio, Kaptur brings jobs.

Tom Hardy on Playing Bane in The Dark Knight Rises
Though he'll next appear on the big screen in the Valentine's Day release of This Means War , Tom Hardy fans are already anxious for his big summer role. That's when he'll be donning the face mask and going up against Christian Bale's Batman in one of the year's most anticipated releases, The Dark Knight Rises . The UKPA managed to get a few words in with Hardy about taking on the iconic comic book villain, Bane.

Celine among jazz fest's best int'l acts
ON Friday night, Celine Dion added her name to the list of international acts who have distinguished themselves on stage at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival with stunning performances.
From the earliest days of the festival, audiences have looked forward to the delivery from the international acts, who, for the most part, have given them memories to be cherished.
Early acts such as George Benson, The Isley Brothers, Kenny G, Mary J Blige, Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu, Regina Belle, India.Arie, Jill Scott and Alicia Keys have gone down in the history of the festival as having the respects of Jamaican audiences.
However, it is acts such as Michael Bolton, Anita Baker, Billy Ocean, Kenny Rogers, Air Supply, and Babyface, who, for many have been the toast of the festival in the years they performed.
Anita Baker took to the stage on the opening night of the 2007 edition of the festival and took the evening apart with her Sweet Love and other hits from her deep catalogue garnered throughout the '80s and '90s.
Deep-voice Michael Bolton was an instant hit from the moment he took to the Jazz and Blues stage in 2007. With pulsating tracks When a Man Loves a Woman, Said I Loved You But I Lied, How Can We Be Lovers, the reggae-inspired Can I Touch You There, as well as the moster hit How Am I Supposed To Live without you, Bolton melted the hearts of the predominantly female patrons, who turned out in their numbers to hear his guts renditions.

They too would return to woo a Kingston audience with hits All Out of Love, Making Love Out Of Nothing at All, Here I Am, and Just As I Am -- made even more popular here due to the cover by local quartet LUST.

Jon Turteltaub to Helm A Matter of Size
Jon Turteltaub has made plans to make his next directing project a remake of the 2009 Israeli film A Matter of Size , according to a story at The Hollywood Reporter .
The original film, directed by Sharon Maymon and Erez Tadmor, told the story of a group of overweight friends who decide to take up Sumo wrestling. Howard Franklin ( The Big Year ) will tackle writing duties on the American version.
Turteltaub, best known for both National Treasure films, last directed The Sorcerer's Apprentice at Disney. Size , meanwhile, is housed at Paramount and will be produced by David Permut.

Vaughn Back for X-Men Sequel

Capleton eyes LATAM
FIERY singjay Capleton hopes his headline appearance at the February 4 Greenland Music Festival in Cali, Colombia will broaden his fan base throughout Latin America (LATAM).
It will be Capleton's first appearance in the South American country. Recently, he told the Observer that Colombia is among the countries in that region he is looking to make a mark.
"There are so many places I haven't been before where the music is dominant," Capleton said. "Wi getting a lotta call from places like Brazil, Venezuela and Chile."
Last April, Capleton performed for the first time in Argentina, appearing at a festival in the capital Buenos Aires. He is scheduled to do a show in Venezuela in March.
The Greenland Festival is a multi-faceted event built around spectacular pyrotechnics. According to its promoters, it is also geared 'toward the unification and promotion of the most positive thing in our land. In order to promote tourism, our talent, climate and culture'.
In addition to Capleton, Aska Lyrical and Ras Elijah are the other Jamaican artistes on the show.
Latin America has become an increasingly fruitful stomping ground for dancehall artistes in recent years. Brazil is arguably the largest market.
That country has been hosting reggae performers since 1980 when Bob Marley and Jacob Miller toured.
But Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica and Venezuela have also opened up in the last decade. Sean Paul, Anthony B, Bushman and older acts like Gregory Isaacs have all done shows in those countries.
Capleton's (given name Clifton Bailey) last studio album, Iternal Fire, was released in 2010 by VP Records. He says he is currently in the studio recording some 'crazy singles' but has no plans to put out a follow-up anytime soon.
"Mi like gi the album dem some space. It gi the people enough time fi get used to the music," he said.
The St Mary-born Capleton broke through during the early 1990s, with a succession of risqué hit songs that included Number One Pon The Look Good Chart, Alms House and Lotion Man.
His music took a more spiritual tone later that decade at a time when the dancehall went through a cultural transformation. His conversion to Rastafari resulted in several hard-hitting albums such as More Fire and Reign Of Fire.
Commercially, his biggest songs are Tour and Wings Of The Morning, which were minor hits in the United States. Their success earned him a stint with Russell Simmons' Def Jam Records.

"HELLO, Jamaica!" shouted Celine Dion to the huge crowd that turned out for her performance at Jamaica Jazz and Blues, at the Greenfied Stadium in Trelawny on Friday night.
After her opening number I Drove All Night at minutes after midnight, the Canadian singer expressed appreciation for the love and support she got from her Jamaican fans.
Every sentence was greeted with claps and loud cheers as she continued to shower praises about the island.
"I'm so excited to be here. We have been enjoying the beautiful weather, the friendliest people, the food," she said.
"I have some making up to do for all that lost time. I can't believe we're really here in your beautiful country; the home of the great Bob Marley, the best place on earth to get an amazing plate of jerked chicken!"
"Happy birthday Jamaica on 50 fabulous years of independence," she said, before getting back to the real business at hand - thrilling fans.
For many, the Dion experience began at the main road leading up to the stadium. From as early as 8:15, the main car park at the stadium was full to capacity due to the overwhelming turnout. Patrons had to make the long trek to the venue having parked some distance away.
Dion delivered Where Does My Heart Beat Now, then Because You Loved Me, which from its first musical strains were greeted with loud screams, many singing along their hands outstretched. A few couples used the opportunity to slow dance.
It was more musical thrill when Dion sang It's All Coming Back To Me Now, Power of Love and one she did in honour of Ella Fitzgerald who died in June 1996, Mr Paganini.
The musical journey continued with Beauty and the Beast and Gold Finger.
The singer had four quick costume changes during her hour-long set and was accompanied by her band, which was on queue throughout her performance. The superb lighting served to enhance her performance.
Local artiste Diana King shared stage with the star performing the song she penned Treat Her Like A Lady, then it was back to more solos. I'm Alive, All By Myself, River Deep, Mountain High and My Heart Will Go On brought the curtains down on a performance that was interlaced with screams, shouts, dancing and lots of love from the fans present.
Earlier in the evening, there were some enjoyable performances from Bryan Art, Jully Black, Tami Chynn, Tessanne Chin, Richie Stephens, Gentleman and a powerful set from Nicole Henry.
It also saw two more awards being presented to local artistes for their contribution to the music. This time, it was to Richie Stephens and Shaggy for promoting Jamaican music across the globe.
The festival climaxed last night with performances from Temptations Review, Damian Marley, Cee Lo Green and Heads of State.

MULTIPLE Grammy award-winning superstar Celine Dion arrived in Jamaica a short while ago for her much-anticipated performance tonight at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in the tourist resort city of Montego Bay.
Dion arrived at the private jet terminal at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
The singer, who has a huge fan base in Jamaica, is the headline act for tonight's installment of the three-night festival, which also features American star Cee Lo Green.

ABBA fans will soon again be saying "Thank you for the music" with the release of a new track on a special edition of the disbanded 70's pop group's "The Visitors" album.
The record, including new track "From a Twinkling Star to a Passing Angel," is the first official new release by the Swedish group in 18 years.
Universal Music Group spokeswoman Mia Segolsson said Friday that the special edition of "The Visitors" - originally released in 1981 - will be available in stores from April 23.

Mission Catwalk season 2 launches tomorrow
COURTLEIGH Auditorium in New Kingston will play host to the launch of season two of the television reality series, Mission Catwalk tomorrow.
The series is aimed at discovering and developing talented fashion designers at home and in the Caribbean.
Host/executive producer Keneea Linton-George said there are major changes for this year's edition.
"There will be 20 designers compared with that of 15 that we showcased last year. And, the prizes will be different," Linton-George said.
She explained that the main prize was increased by $300,000 to $500,000. This year's winner will also be flown away to attend fashion-designing courses in London and Paris.
"Exposure is what we are really focusing on for the winner. The type that isn't available in Jamaica at The Edna Manley College, where season one winner attended," said Linton-George, who is also a designer.
In addition, the winning designs will be available at several boutiques islandwide. The host/executive producer said the organisers decided to make this decision in order to give the winner maximum exposure and have their garments in high-end locations.
Other prizes include a six-page fashion editiorial in Ocean Style magazine and an opportunity to show a collection at London Fashion Week 2012.
This season will see competitors from the Caribbean -- Barbados, Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Jamaica.
"We had a lot of applicants from the region this year. However, we had to only select 20 as funding was a problem," Linton added.
The TV series will be filmed on locations in Kingston and each hourlong segment will consist of four segments and will last for 13 weeks.
Among the numerous guest judges, season two's chief judges will be Jamaican fashion designer Carlton Brown and the Jamaica Observer Lifestyle Editor Novia McDonald-Whyte.

Activity-filled Reggae Month
A full slate of activities have been rostered for this year's Reggae Month throughout February.
The activities, organised and endorsed by Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA), officially kick-starts today with the Dennis Brown Symposium and tribute concert in downtown Kingston.
However, the month-long celebrations of all things reggae gets going this Wednesday, February 1, with the first of the weekly concerts at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. This week's concert is a tribute to classical, jazz, mento and ska. Week two will feature reggae bands, while the third week will feature the famous rhythm twins -- Sly and Robbie -- as well as dub poetry in a night dubbed Reggae Gone Global. The fourth Wednesday in February will see singers and deejays taking the spotlight with the likes of Romain Virgo, Chris Martin, Ken Boothe and Johnny Clarke set to take to the stage. The series will climax on February 29 with a tribute to dancehall and alternative reggae music.
The three-day Trench Town Festival also forms part of the celebrations and is scheduled for February 3-5 in that community.
JaRIA notes that in keeping with its mandate to educate and inform, a number of seminars and symposiums will be held throughout the month. The range of topics includes: Sustaining Live Events, Preserve the Music, International Spotlight on Reggae. There will also be a number of public lectures organised by various affiliated organisations. This includes the Groundation series which will be held at the Institute of Jamaica. One of these lectures will focus on the life and work of singer and songwriter Bob Andy. The annual Bob Marley Lecture on February 16 will also form part of the activities for Reggae Month, as well as the Edna Manley Conference on February 2, which will have as its theme: The Relevance of Popular Music Education in Jamaica.
A number of open air concerts are also planned, this includes the Bob Marley birthday concert at Emancipation Park on February 5; a gospel concert at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on February 12 and the salute to sound systems at the National Stadium car park on February 18.
The link between reggae music and fashion will also be highlighted through a fashion event dubbed Rip the Runways.
The highlight of Reggae Month will be JaRIA's honour awards ceremony to be held at Emancipation Park. At this prestigious event, a total of 21 awards will be presented in 16 categories including the specially commissioned Golden Jubilee Commemorative Award, designed to coincide with Jamaica's 50th anniversary of independence. NEW YORK (AP) — A former American Idol contestant is heading to Broadway with a character who, it's safe to say, is truly two-faced.
Constantine Maroulis will play the title dual role in a revival of the musical Jekyll & Hyde that's slated to come to New York in spring 2013 after a 25-week national tour that starts in San Diego on October 2.
The Tony Award nominated musical features a story and lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Leslie Bricusse and music by Frank Wildhorn. It'll be directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun.
The musical made its Broadway debut in 1997 with such songs as This is the Moment, A New Life and Someone Like You, earning four Tony nominations. Robert Cuccioli played the lead, and Sebastian Bach and David Hasselhoff later took over.

ON Friday night, Celine Dion added her name to the list of international acts who have distinguished themselves on stage at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival with stunning performances.
From the earliest days of the festival, audiences have looked forward to the delivery from the international acts, who, for the most part, have given them memories to be cherished.
Early acts such as George Benson, The Isley Brothers, Kenny G, Mary J Blige, Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu, Regina Belle, India.Arie, Jill Scott and Alicia Keys have gone down in the history of the festival as having the respects of Jamaican audiences.
However, it is acts such as Michael Bolton, Anita Baker, Billy Ocean, Kenny Rogers, Air Supply, and Babyface, who, for many have been the toast of the festival in the years they performed.
Anita Baker took to the stage on the opening night of the 2007 edition of the festival and took the evening apart with her Sweet Love and other hits from her deep catalogue garnered throughout the '80s and '90s.
Deep-voice Michael Bolton was an instant hit from the moment he took to the Jazz and Blues stage in 2007. With pulsating tracks When a Man Loves a Woman, Said I Loved You But I Lied, How Can We Be Lovers, the reggae-inspired Can I Touch You There, as well as the moster hit How Am I Supposed To Live without you, Bolton melted the hearts of the predominantly female patrons, who turned out in their numbers to hear his guts renditions.
Lionel Richie first thrilled Jamaicans as the front man for The Commodores, and he took his audience back there when he thrilled his jazz fest audience in 2009. Commodores and solo hits flowed like a might river, as Richie delivered a blistering nearly two-hour performance which left those gathered at The Aqueduct absolutely satisfied at the end of his set.
Trinidad-born and UK-raised Billy Ocean would save the day at the 2008 edition of the festival. Following the debacle involving the diva, Diana Ross, which ended with he exiting the stage under a hail of boos, it was up the to Caribbean Queen singer to remove the sour taste from the mouths of the thousands inside the Montego Bay venue. From the opening notes of Suddenly, Get Out of My Dreams, Lover Boy and When The Going Gets Tough, patrons were willing to embrace Ocean and forget Miss Ross. Billy Ocean was then invited back to the 2010 staging of the festival.
Babyface was another act who stole the show when he appeared on the festival. With his 'cool' demeanour and engaging vocals topped by a wide repertoire of both hits he recorded as well as those he penned for others he was a sure shot from the get go. Babyface's performance at Jazz earned him a return ticket to perform in Kingston later that year.
Jamaicans love Air Supply. The Australian duo of Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock just spread all their charms and a popular repertoire on their Jamaican audience. But even they remarked how shocked they were when Jamaicans began singing their songs verbatim. They too would return to woo a Kingston audience with hits All Out of Love, Making Love Out Of Nothing at All, Here I Am, and Just As I Am -- made even more popular here due to the cover by local quartet LUST.

The Sundance Film Festival is often full of surprises, and every once in a while, an independently-made movie with a big name cast shows up in the "Premieres" section without already having distribution. Earlier this month, Variety reported that 20th Century Fox was eyeing Chronicle director Josh Trank to take on the Fantastic Four reboot. SuperHeroHype got a chance today to talk to Trank, who told us that's news to him, however.
"I know as much as you guys know. I'm totally serious. I know as much as you," he said. "I saw that leak online and I was like, 'Um, okay, I'm trying to finish Chronicle right now.' This is weird. There's nothing to say, 'Chronicle' is exactly the kind of superhero movie that I wanted to make and, going forward, I want to have some original ideas and different things I'm working on."
So there's still the possibility that the studio might be interested in having him on board, but they haven't communicated that to him if...

The Help Wins Three SAG Awards

Celine Dion arrives in Jamaica
MULTIPLE Grammy award-winning superstar Celine Dion arrived in Jamaica a short while ago for her much-anticipated performance tonight at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in the tourist resort city of Montego Bay.
Dion arrived at the private jet terminal at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
The singer, who has a huge fan base in Jamaica, is the headline act for tonight's installment of the three-night festival, which also features American star Cee Lo Green.

ATO Picks Up James Marsh's Shadow Dancer
Deadline is reporting that ATO Pictures has picked up the rights to distribute James Marsh's political thriller Shadow Dancer , starring Andrea Riseborough as a Northern Irish woman involved with the IRA coerced into becoming an informant by a persuasive MI5 agent, played by Clive Owen.
Adapted by Tom Bradby from his own novel, the film also stars Gillian Anderson, Aidan Gillen and Domhnall Gleeson. Marsh previously directed the Oscar-winning doc Man on Wire and last year's Sundance opener Project Nim .
